Airtight, Super Insulated, Mechanically Ventilated
Below are some images of our airtight, passive construction methodology undertaken at a Ros Cheide renovation in Wolfe Tone Street, Sligo.
We achieved extremely good U-Values on the walls with Xtratherm rigid insulation behind the airtight membrane combined with the green Rockwoll within the electrical services cavity. We used rigid insulation between the joists and thermal liner (insulated plasterboard) on the ceiling.
Due to this fabric first approach and with the triple glazed windows specified, the building will have an extremely low heating requirement. Also the apartments are mechanically ventilated.
By using timber frame partitions instead of block work, the building’s structural materials sequester C02 rather than creating additional greenhouse gases.
